Description:
The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (QCF) is a technical level qualification aimed at developing the knowledge, understanding and technical skills needed for a career as a Sports Massage Therapist, either employed or self employed.
This qualification was developed collaboratively with the following organisations; Active IQ, Central YMCA Qualifications, CIBTAC, ITEC and VTCT with input from the industry through the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and the General Council for Massage Therapies (GCMT).
What does this qualification cover?
The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements needed to work effectively and efficiently as a sports massage therapist. This includes anatomy and physiology, professional practice, an understanding of the principles of health and fitness and how to provide sports massage treatments. The level 3 sports massage therapist will be able to work safely and effectively on dysfunctional tissue in a range of context, to include, pre-event, post event, intra-event and for maintenance purposes.
Course format:
Blended learning - Practical attendance & assessment: 7 days + theory
Coursework: Home study and portfolio of evidence containing questions and assignment work
Written Exam: 1 Anatomy & Physiology paper

USP41 Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
USP42 Principles of health and fitness
USP43 Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
USP44 Professional practice in sports massage
USP45 Sports massage treatments
Start time:
The home study can be started at anytime. Training material available on our online portal. You will be able to log into your account to access the theory.
Attendance:
7 days + theory studied online & via live video
Duration:
Self-paced home study can be started at anytime and covers GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 225. (GLH incl’s. practical, coursework, case studies, assessments, written exams)
Model Required?:
Group training = No, students will work on each other.
One to one training = Yes, you will be required to bring a model along to the practical
training to practice your routine on.
Case studies = Yes, you will be required to work on models for your case studies.

Additional Costs:
You will need to purchase your own products and equipment in order to carry out your case studies and practice your skills. We also recommend you purchase a text book to support your learning, a recommended reading list is available in the training pack

Qualification gained:
A VRQ – VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (QCF)
This qualification is mapped to the relevant NOS (National Occupational Standards), where applicable. This qualification is accredited on the qualifications and credit framework (QCF). This qualification is a VRQ (Vocationally Related Qualification.)
