Description:

This course in baby massage instruction will provide you with the knowledge required to teach baby massage to parents and guardians for use on their own children using a demonstration doll.

An important part of this service is to facilitate and encourage bonding between the child and parent / guardian. Massage also has a soothing and reassuring effect on babies and young children. You will also gain knowledge of baby anatomy & physiology, listening skills & health & safety.

Pre-requisites (entry level):

A massage qualification or some relevant childcare / midwife qualifications may be sufficient pre-requisites, however, you will need to clarify this with your insurers before enrolling.

Course format:

Online learning (incl pre course reading, a video demonstration of the routine & audio presentation) + case studies. + live video assessment option (to gain accredited qualification from ABT Insurance)

Training material is accessed through our online portal

Training materials: This includes - downloadable course modules in pdf format, video demonstration of the routine, an audio / video presentation just like being taught in a classroom, Printable notes, and access to a comments section to ask questions to the tutor)

Live video assessment: If you opt for the live video assessment, you will have the opportunity, once you have studied the modules, to a video call with your tutor to discuss any questions and run through any practical demonstrations of the routine. You will then schedule your live video assessment, to complete your course.

Attendance:

No attendance required. This course is completed via online learning, with live video assessment option.

A date is booked with your assessor for your assessment.

Duration:

The home study can be started at anytime prior to the course date, all training material is accessed via our online portal. You will have your own account to log in and progress through the course modules.

Model Required?:

Online assessment = You are required to instruct, using a baby massage doll and talk through your demonstration as if you are teaching someone to massage their baby.

Case studies = Yes, you are required to instruct, using a baby massage doll, to a parent / carer whilst they are carrying out the routine on their baby / infant for each case study.

Case studies:

You are required to complete 3 treatments as case studies.

Accreditation body:

* ABT - Associated Beauty Therapists ( If live video assessment is booked)

* IPHM - International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine

An accredited certificate emailed to you on successful completion of the course.

Career Opportunities:

Self-Employed baby massage instructor working from home, salon, Spa or Mobile on a one to one basis or for group baby massage clinics.

Additional Costs:

You will need to purchase your own products and equipment in order to carry out your case studies and practice your skills, i.e. a baby massage doll.
