Description:
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments (QCF) is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a nail technician. This qualification is designed for learners to support you to gain employment / self-employment as a nail technician, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.
This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a nail technician including, mandatory units covering the following: providing manicure and pedicure treatments, health and safety and client care and communication.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and nail products and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare and enhance the nails and cuticles on the hands and feet using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Course format:
11 practical / assessment / exam sessions + home study + portfolio coursework + case studies + induction. Training material is accessed via our online portal.

Unit UV20453 - Client care and communication in beauty related industries
Unit UV20470 - Provide manicure treatments
Unit UV20471 - Provide pedicure treatments
Unit UV20483 - Follow health & safety practice in the salon
Unit UV20399 - Provide & maintain nail enhancements (Gel)
Unit UV20472 - Provide nail art
Start time:
The home study can be started at anytime, but please ask for course dates practical training element.
Attendance:
11 practical / assessment sessions + video lessons via zoom
Duration:
GLH (Guided Learning Hours): 208. (GLH incl’s. practical, coursework, case studies, assessments, written exams)
Self-paced home study can be started at anytime.
Model Required?:
Group training = No, students will work on each other.
One to one training = Yes, you will be required to bring a model along to the practical training to practice your routine on.
Case studies = Yes, you will be required to work on models for your case studies.
Case studies:
You are required to complete enough treatments to cover the range requirements.
Exam board:
The VTCT (Vocational Training & Charitable Trust)
Career Opportunities:
Self-Employed / employed therapist working from home, salon, Spa or Mobile.

This qualification is mapped to the relevant NOS (National Occupational Standards), where applicable. This qualification is accredited on the qualifications and credit framework (QCF). This qualification is a VRQ (Vocationally Related Qualification.)
